Bubble tea is all the rage right now, it's not just a drink, but a trend sweeping the nation. While the drink appears harmless, dire threats lurk inside its sugary facade.
Previously, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad advised parents to avoid exposing their children to sugary beverages, particularly bubble tea drinks which have experienced a recent spike in popularity.
Dzulkefly added that the sugar level in the bubble tea drinks is excessive, and way beyond the recommended daily intake level.
"If I am not mistaken, every 500ml (of the drink) contains about 20 teaspoons, while the recommended daily intake is eight (teaspoons)," he said.
