Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berkata beliau bersedia untuk berkhidmat sebagai perdana menteri jika itu adalah kehendak rakyat atau selagi mereka memerlukan khidmat beliau.&ldquo;Tetapi sudah tentu, saya tidak tahu berapa lama saya sendiri akan bertahan,&rdquo; katanya sambil menambah bahawa dalam tempoh dua tahun beliau akan berusia 95 tahun.Berucap pada Persidangan Nikkei di Tokyo, Jepun pada Isnin, Dr Mahathir menegaskan bahawa beliau sudah menjadi perdana menteri tertua di dunia."Ia akan menjadi satu rekod jika saya mencapai usia 95 tahun dan masih menjadi perdana menteri," katanya secara bergurau.Beliau menegaskan bahawa apa yang difikirkannya adalah berkhidmat kepada negara.&ldquo;Jika itulah apa yang rakyat mahu saya lakukan, saya akan mengikut kehendak mereka,&rdquo; katanyaDr Mahathir telah mengangkat sumpah sebagai perdana menteri untuk kali kedua bulan lepas selepas mengetuai gabungan Pakatan Harapan untuk mraih kemenangan yang menakjubkan dalam pilihan raya umum 9 Mei.Beliau adalah perdana menteri dari tahun 1981 hingga 2003.Dr Mahathir adalah dalam rangka lawatan kerja tiga hari ke Jepun.
