[KiniNews] Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an unconditional ceasefire effective midnight, following peace talks mediated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya today.
Anwar, as Asean chairperson, said the ceasefire is among the common understandings reached at the meeting attended by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and acting Thai prime minister Phumtham Wechayachai.
“PM Hun Manet and acting PM Phumtham Wechayachai have expressed their positions and willingness for an immediate ceasefire and return to normalcy," he said during a joint press conference with the two leaders.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, veteran PKR lawmaker Hassan Karim said the government must do some introspection after the “Turun Anwar” rally in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, noting that there must be a reason why 25,000 people turned up for the rally.
Selangor DAP deputy chairperson V. Ganabatirau also weighed in, urging the government and Members of Parliament to hold a special discussion to address the people's rising concerns and commit to long-term structural solutions.
