The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today acquitted and discharged former Kinabatangan MP, the late Bung Moktar Radin, of three corruption charges involving RM2.8 million in bribes.The bribes were allegedly for securing approval for Felcra Berhad to invest RM150 million in Public Mutual Berhad unit trust products.Judge Rosli Ahmad made the ruling after deputy public prosecutor Law Chin How informed the court that the prosecution did not intend to proceed with the case following Bung’s death on Dec 5 last year.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said all Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) procurement decisions linked to corruption will be temporarily shelved pending full compliance with procurement procedures.He said the government, through the relevant ministries, will review and restructure all procurement processes to ensure transparency within the existing system.

Bersatu’s Selat Klang assemblyperson Abdul Rashid Asari said he voiced support for Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari not by choice but was “forced” to do so by circumstances.According to the former Selangor Bersatu chief, he had no intention to “betray” Bersatu by backing the government.“I did not want to do this (go against Bersatu) but if they have done this to me, I had to act accordingly,” he said.
