The rise in femicide cases in Malaysia has sparked growing concern, especially among women.
The recent murder of 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, allegedly by a 26-year-old police officer, is just one example of this disturbing trend. Her body was found in an oil palm plantation in Hulu Selangor, following what began as a relationship dispute.
Farah’s case is one of many that raise important questions: What drives these crimes, how can we prevent them, and how do we raise awareness?
To explore these issues, KiniTV spoke with Jin Qiu Huang, Programme Officer at the All Women’s Action Society (AWAM), on the rise of femicide and intimate partner violence in Malaysia
