A coalition of Malay and Islamic NGOs plans to hold a rally in Kuala Lumpur on May 24 to protest the government’s alleged failure to defend the interests of Malay-Muslims in Malaysia.Coalition secretariat chairperson Syed Hassan Syed Ali said the plan stemmed from the community’s concerns about their purportedly diminishing rights.Syed Hassan stressed that the rally was not political, but any politician who wishes to participate is welcome on the condition that they come in their personal capacity.
